School System

St. Dominic’s is a private unaided minority school and is governed by the board of trustees of the St. Dominic’s Educational Trust. The trustees have chosen to follow the CISCE system as a best fit that meets the requirements of the parents of the School as well meets the goals of the School foundress and objectives of the trust.

Your child would join us in any class from from Nursery up to Class IX (from the age of 2.6 years to 13.8 years). A child in Nursery, Lower KG and Upper KG will enter into our Kindergarten and will be educated along a play and activity based learning programme to prepare him or her for entry into the CISCE programme which begins in Class 1. There are specially trained teachers for this group of children as well as a separate teaching and activity block and separate playing area.

A child enters Class 1 at the age of 5.8 years and will begin a ten year CISCE school course.

From Nursery to Class X, there are sports classes held as part of the regular weekly academic curricular.  As a supplement to the academic calendar there are a host of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities that the children of the school take part in. Discipline at the school is guided and administered by a prefectorial system.

A child would normally join us in Nursery and remain with us till Class X when they would pass out of the School with a certificate issued by the CISCE board.

Each student of the school is a member of one of the four houses of the school. The House system is an integral part of private schools and helps co-ordinate various activities of the school and leads and builds up an esprit de corps and camaraderie among students. Regular Inter-House competitions are held throughout the year in various co-curricular activities which foster a healthy competitive spirit. Each House vies with one another to keep the house flag aloft and with the inter-House trophy at the end of the year.
