Beyond Academics

The Management, staff and students work together to meet this mission and work together to obtain exceptional results in the academic, co-curricular, extra-curricular arenas and are happily productive in their lives together.

St. Dominic’s was founded by the late Mrs. J. E. Street in 1999, an educator at her core from the north eastern state of Meghalaya. Mrs. Street provided the vision for the school and its environment and created an idyllic setting for an educational establishment. Many current and old parents, well-wishers and visitors are amazed by the setting of the school, its layout and the open spaces for the children to run about. In the words of the late foundress, “We have a fine and beautiful campus with all the right conditions for children to learn and grow.” The teaching faculty have a simple, yet distinctive and firm underlying philosophy for the school, to provide the very best education whilst being steeped in the rich Indian educational tradition at its core whilst adopting technological and pedagogical advancements in teaching. This has resulted in the growth of the school and its ratings as being a fine and extremely competitive CISCE school.

The setting of the school and its grounds lends itself to co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. The school runs various exhibitions, talks, debates, excursions, educational events, shows and several sporting events both local and at a national level.

We are at the forefront of bringing a healthy and balanced, holistic approach to living and working, and encourage all stakeholders in the school to excel. Our teachers are continually in some form of in-service training ensuring that we have the very highest standards and practices available at the school. The ground staff and service providers are also encouraged to show that they act with due care and respect for the environment and for their fellow workers. The School Management has thus created an environment of respect and care which the children are able to not only observe but also appreciate and practice in their daily lives.

The children have access to the latest audio visual equipment in classrooms that are of a suitable size for maximum and efficient teaching. A visiting professor from Australia commented, “I wasn’t expecting this, you have a wonderful setting with spacious classrooms, one I can only imagine in some of our best schools located in the countryside.” Our library and laboratories are at the highest levels demanded by the CISCE board. Our sports grounds are second to none. We are proud of our heritage and guiding philosophy of being a day school, since, the loving and caring atmosphere at home can be continued on at school. We work closely with our parents to continually improve and excel in the performance of our duties.

We are proud to have The Sports Gurukul as a partner of the school and they have brought a very structured approach to physical education which all children must attend at least three times a week. EduComp is another of our partners and we are rated regularly in the highest of their rankings.
