Kindergarten Programme

Our Kindergarten programme is thoughtfully designed by subject experts to nurture a love for learning from the very beginning. We understand that what children learn before the age of seven greatly influences how they learn and process information throughout their lives. With this in mind, we give special care and attention to our youngest learners. Their timetable and daily activities are slightly adapted and shortened to suit their developmental needs, ensuring a joyful and balanced start to their educational journey.

The CISCE Curriculum

St. Dominic’s follows the curriculum set by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), New Delhi. The Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) has been structured as a broad-based programme of general education. All students are required to attempt six subjects along with SUPW (Socially Useful Productive Work).

By Class X, senior faculty members guide and coordinate the syllabi to ensure students are thoroughly prepared for the board examination. The ICSE examination presupposes ten years of schooling, and at St. Dominic’s, every effort is made to maintain academic rigor while ensuring overall growth.

Core Subjects

  • English – At the heart of the CISCE curriculum, English is compulsory, and every student must pass this paper along with four others to qualify for the ICSE certificate.
  • Second Language – Students must attempt at least one second language. At St. Dominic’s, we currently offer Kannada and Hindi.
  • History, Civics & Geography – Together, these form another compulsory subject.
  • Mathematics & Science – Both subjects are mandatory, each carrying 20% internal assessment and 80% external evaluation. Project work and practical application are integral parts of these subjects. Our annual Science Exhibition in June provides a platform for students to showcase their creativity and project-based learning.
  • Physical Education / Computer application – As the sixth subject, it is assessed equally through internal and external evaluation (50% each), reflecting our commitment to a balanced and holistic education.

Assessment & Additional Subjects

From Class I to Class VIII, students are also introduced to additional subjects such as Computer Applications, which enrich their learning experience. In line with CISCE guidelines, our assessment system combines term exams, mid-terms, and finals with a weighted evaluation to provide a comprehensive picture of each child’s progress.
